Rebranding. Pero Like...Why?
If there's one thing I hate; it's when a brand decides to discontinue, or reformulate products I love. And yet here I am...discontinuing, and reformulating some of my OG favorites. I know some of you guys might be sad, or even a little nervous. I wanted to give an explanation as to why I've decided to make this move. I started out making my own natural, probiotic deodorant because I don't sweat cute. Even with mens maximum strength deodorant, I would still stink worse than old PE clothes left in a locker over summer. I was tired of shitty ingredients that were shitty for my health. After I locked down my first deodorant recipe, my friend Jessica suggested I try making a CBD skincare product since I happened to be knowledgable about cannabis. I've been a lifelong skincare junkie for as long as I can remember, so this was a challenge I was totally down for. As some of you know...shit just kinda blew up from there. When I started out, I was limited on the ingredients I was able to get. I made sure I was still working with high quality materials, but limited by cost, and availability as I hadn't yet found the labs I work with today. As I enter my 3rd year in business this summer, I've learned a lot. Along with that, my techniques for different products have grown, and changed. I now have access to a huge selection of luxe skincare ingredients that I didn't before. I want to move past being just another CBD skincare brand. I want to highlight the beauty of raw hemp flower, and other raw ingredients for a natural, plant based approach. I like my skincare like I like my healthcare...mostly natural, with a little help from time to time. I love plants, and raw ingredients for skin health. I also love things like alpha hydroxy acids, beta hydroxy acids, etc; which are difficult to incorporate by natural means in order to actually be effective. My goal is to continue making beautiful products that really work. I'm not trying for perfect skin, but just a happy, healthy, and radiant complexion. The products I'm reformulating are because the ingredients are simply better than I used before. The new products I'm bringing in are because I'm no longer worried about "wasting medicine". When I first started formulating my CBD products, I was using my own personal medicine stash since I wasn't yet partnered with a farmer. I simply couldn't afford to be wasteful. I didn't, and still don't have investors, or even business loans. I'm 100% self-funded. I know what it's like to lose everything. I lost my first home in foreclosure during the big housing bubble in 2008, along with a bankruptcy. To this day, I'm extremely cautious, and don't take big risks when it comes to money. If I fail, it's on me, and no one else. So the money I make here is reinvested it into this brand to take it as far as I can get it. I'm a registered nurse who is a self-taught skincare formulator, using luxe ingredients. Everything I make is still handmade in my kitchen, and incredibly time consuming. I do what I do because I love it. It gives me a chance to get in touch with my creative side in my favorite place at home...my kitchen. I not only want my products to have high end results, I want them to look the part too. I want to give you guys what you truly deserve from this brand. You might be wondering why I'm telling you all this. It's because I want you to understand who I am, where I'm coming from, and what this business means to my family and I. From the bottom of my bitchy heart, thank you guys for being part of this journey. Without you, this wouldn't be possible. The notes I get in my orders, or messages I receive from you always fill me with joy. You guys make the stress of owning a business worth it, and beyond. Thank you for showing me grace when I'm slow to restock, or ship orders. You've taught me that the world still has good people in it...something that is easily forgotten when you work in healthcare. My heart is full, and I'm ready to take The Bitchy Hippie to the next phase.
